Facebook Continually Evolves: What’s In Store For 2016?

Local Social Media·Tuesday, June 14, 2016

Facebook has unquestionably become the busiest Social Media platform, not only for personal use, but for businesses as well. Quite simply, if you own or manage a company, however large or small it is, you need to have a Facebook Business Page. Business pages must be regularly monitored to connect with your customers, and also updated effectively to engage new customers. It’s an essential part of marketing your business now.

SO WHY IS FACEBOOK SO IMPORTANT FOR BUSINESSES?

The sheer amount of users makes it a powerful platform for reaching your key audience. It’s also important to know that Facebook is continually evolving. That evolution is one of the keys to their success. Facebook regularly tests new ideas in order to stay ahead of the trends. Facebook “rolls out” new changes to smaller groups of users, in order to determine if the changes are actually beneficial. If these changes work, they then implement the changes to their entire community. A bonus of hiring a social media marketing company to handle your Facebook business page, is that Marketing Managers often learn of the changes and new trends well before anyone else.

The infographic below is from Speechless Digital, and highlights some of Facebook's recent statistics from the 1st quarter of 2016. The changes and innovations below those stats are a peek at what’s in store for the remainder of 2016. It looks like it will be an exciting year ahead.

OUR FAVORITE CHANGES:

One of our favorite changes is Facebook Canvas, which is amazing and has already begun to be used by companies such as Target, Wendy’s, and Macy’s. Described as “an immersive and expressive experience on Facebook for businesses to tell their stories and showcase their products”, we agree. It will change the world of Facebook on mobile devices. “Leveraging the same technology used to display photos and videos quickly in the Facebook app, Canvas loads quickly, as much as 10 times faster than the standard mobile web”. Look for Canvas later this year.

We are also excited about Facebook emerging as a data information provider for marketing assessment. User data has been very limited in the past, but Facebook will begin providing anonymized data so businesses can get a better understanding of their audience. These insights will help Marketing Managers target clients more precisely. That should be a helpful change.

As a Social Media Marketing Company, we look forward to the ever-evolving face of Facebook. And businesses should too.
