What You Should Know About AI

What is AI?

AI, also known as Artificial Intelligence, comes in many different forms. The Oxford Dictionary’s definition for AI is “the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence.” Amazon’s Alexa or Apple's Siri are both examples of AI. Alexa and Siri are able to adapt and learn new things, as a human would, while also answering questions using language processing. A new AI, called ChatGPT is all the new craze, as it allows people to type in a chat box asking any questions, and it will do the work for you. It has helped with complex tasks like coding software to simpler tasks like creating grocery lists for people.

AI and Social Media Effects

We don’t know for sure where AI is going to lead to, but there are a lot of questions surrounding how AI will affect social media. Instagram has already started using AI to help detect inappropriate content. For example, AI can notice and remove Instagram posts that go against community guidelines before anyone reports it. Another benefit is that AI can create social media posts, leaving less work for you. They can also target advertisements to specific audiences by analyzing an individual’s behavior and content they look at. AI has been recommended to businesses using social media, as it helps manage analytics, data, and schedule posts. But if AI can do all these amazing things, will it replace humans that are doing the same?

Could AI Replace Humans?

The bottom line is that we don’t know if AI will completely replace jobs that humans are for the most part capable of doing. According to the World Economic Forum, 70% of the jobs that exist today will not exist in 30 years. Jobs in different industries are transforming because of AI, as it is being used for positions such as social media management, all the way to banking and bookkeeping practices. However, AI cannot replace every human role. We will continue to see changes because of AI, but won’t know exactly what the changes will be until it happens.
